The Experience

Everyone deserves to feel good in their homes and workspaces, but the reason why some spaces feel more inviting than others is that intentional choices in the built environment have the power to elicit specific emotions.

For example, think of your favorite seat at the local coffee shop. Have you ever wondered why it feels so cozy or how you feel like you could have lingered just a little longer? It could be that the seating is clustered close enough for intimate conversations to occur organically, the lighting is bright enough to complete a task without being too harsh, or the comfy armchair has the perfect spot within reach for your beverage while you take in the sights and sounds. In any case, the effect of this well-designed space is that you feel good when you’re there. I truly believe it’s possible to create this feeling in a space without adding anything new or changing any of the fixed elements.

My process begins with asking,

“What do you like or dislike about your space?”

but more importantly,

“how do you want to feel in this space?”

My Design Philosophies

  • Our beautiful things are meant to be enjoyed, not packed away collecting dust.

  • It is not my job to make decorating decisions for my clients, rather to help them uncover what their personal preferences look like.

  • People are naturally drawn to what makes them feel joyful and at ease. I’ll take this information to design a welcoming space, that reflects who they are.
